  25. touching than when the letter requests news about any research trials for
  26. which the writer may volunteer.  I sense the despair and anxiety in those
  27. words and only wish that there was more I could offer.  At last, I think I
  28. have found a resource that may be of real assistance to help those people who
  29. are seeking this information.  It is called the AIDS Clinical Trials
  30. Information Service (1-800-TRIALS-A) and it provides current information on
  31. federally and privately sponsored clinical trials for AIDS patients and others
  32. with HIV infection.  There is a real, live person who answers the calls, and
  33. provides you with answers you can use.  If you have questions on the progress
  34. of drugs currently being tested, that information is also available.  Spanish
  35. speaking as well as English speaking individuals are there to respond to your
  36. needs.  This service is sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control, the Food
  37. and Drug Administration, the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious
  38. Diseases, and the National Library of Medicine.
